Some 20 guests were welcomed by Consul Maryse ANDRIEUX and writer Michel LEFEVRE, President of the Academic Society of the Oise Département, who lives in Savignies and took them for a guided tour of his town. Pottery was obviously the main theme of the numerous events and anecdotes told by Michel LEFEVRE, thei voluble guide who has a wide knowledge of the region’s history. After visiting the potter’s workshop, the group was given a highly documented lecture on the so-called “Plat de la Passion”, an 16th-century iconic production of the local potters who are alleged to have received an order from Anne de Bretagne. Then, it was time to go to the “Auberge de la Poterie”, where, after showing the preparation of Rouennaise Duckling, Master Canardier Brice LAFRANGE served a tasty menu : Micuit Foie Gras with Onion Preserve, Scallops and Bacon on a Skewer, Trou Normand, Pressed Duckling with Seasonal vegetables, Cheese with salad, Assorted Desserts. The wines that accompanied the meal were : a 2013 sweet Bordeaux from Château Pied d’Argent, a 2013 Muscadet Sèvre et Maine from Les Clavières and a 2012 red Bordeaux from Château d’Hautefeuilles. To sum up, the participants appreciated the tour and the meal, both of them perfectly organized.
